Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) said tech billionaire Elon Musk and President Trump “prove that we don't know what they're doing.”
“Elon Musk and Donald Trump are proofing every day that they don't know what they're doing and what our federal workers are actually doing. We don't care if their firing really burns anything important,” Murray said. Posted video On YouTube on Wednesday.
Murray commented Virtual press conferenceaccording to a statement from her office.
“This week they fired 1,400 more staff members at the VA. Those who help serve veterans left for no reason,” Murray mentioned the Department of Veterans in the video. “And here it is. They are still about to fire even more people who are less visionary. Trump's muscle firing continues to be as surgical as a destructive ball.”
At the first meeting of President Trump's cabinet on Wednesday, Musk defended a recent email, with federal workers sending a list of their achievements to his office, calling the message “pulse check.”
The tech billionaires said they requested emails from federal workers about their performance so that they can make sure that payroll people are actually working.
“There are fictional individuals who are collecting wages,” the tech billionaire said of the government. “Are they alive and can they write emails?”
Senate Republicans expressed disgust earlier this week in an email directive from Musk, and Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (RW.Va.) did not believe that “it was treated very well in terms of the surprise element of it and the points of it.”
“President Trump has been uniformed consistently for our brave men and women. We have achieved important reforms that improve VA healthcare, reduce veteran homelessness and enhance education benefits. In an email to Hill on Wednesday, White House spokesman Anna Kelly said in an email to Hill that his efforts to reduce wasted spending and make institutions more efficient will ensure that the government can serve all American families, especially veterans.
