Ukrainian President Voldy Zelenki arrived in the United States on Thursday prior to his cooperation with US President Donald Trump, reported by Ukraine and Ukraine Newsletter.
The two world leaders are expected to discuss rare earth trade, protection from Russia and how European countries can share the burden of Ukraine's security.
“I want to coordinate our position with the American position. For me, the Ukrainian position is a priority because the war is Ukraine,” Zelensky said at a press conference on Kiev on Wednesday.
The agreement recognizes 50% of US revenue from sales of key and rare earth minerals in Ukraine, but does not include security guarantees that exceed US economic interests.
“I would like to share with President Trump how he understands his partner's position from Europe. [had] A lot of consultations, and I think I know what they prepare, how they can help, and what strategic roles they can. [whole of] Europe – Play for Ukraine… with future security guarantees. ”
Zelensky also reiterated his position that Ukraine must be included in ceasefires with Russia and peace agreements, and said he insisted on maintaining current US sanctions.
“A lot of things depend on President Trump's decision, because European partners will also consider this,” Zelensky said. “This is [a] A very important moment. ”
The two have met many times in recent months, with the 47-year-old Ukrainian leaders heading to New York to meet with Trump at Trump Tower in Manhattan on September 27, 2024.
Trump and Zelensky also spoke about the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris in December.
Before making a trip to the US, Zelensky praised Trump for meeting his home before his highly anticipated encounter with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“I have a question [much] We are at war and we need to understand what we can count, so we need answers, very honest answers,” he said. “That's why Putin visited before he was a very good signal.”
