Girl, 11, who killed herself after being bullied over immigration status, said she was sexually abused by family member: investigation

The 11-year-old Texan girl who committed suicide after being bullied by her family's immigration status told a friend that she was inappropriately moved by her family, according to a shocking discovery from her Texas School District.

Jocelyn Rojo Carranza died in hospital on February 3rd after five days of intensive care after finding out he was unresponsive at his family's Gainesville home.

The girl's mother, Marbella Carranza, claimed that her daughter was bullied by a student at Gainesville Middle School. She said she chuckled at her due to her family's immigration status and threatened to call immigration and customs enforcement.

The Gainesville Independent School District has launched an investigation, confirming that a student from the Karanza bus commented on the ice and deportation to a group of Hispanic students, and that the girl was listening. According to the survey results.

Carranza reported the incident to her principal on Jan. 30 after the ICE topic reappeared in her class, the district said. The district discovered that it wasn't the only thing that happened such an incident, and the student said he was disciplined.

The following week after Karanza's hospitalization, students came to school officials and said the girl and one of her siblings were victims of bullying, which spurred the investigation.

The children also spoke to the administrator about the disturbing claims of Karanza's abuse.

“It was reported by multiple students [Carranza] She was inappropriately moved by her family and told them she wanted to keep this a secret so she wouldn't get into trouble,” Desmontes Principal Stewart said in the report.

The district reported allegations against child protection services and said it is under investigation.

The district also discovered that the girl had previously expressed her thoughts of self-harm to her cousin who allegedly notified Karanza's mother, and in October she told the counselor about being called by her siblings in trouble at home.

The district said it provided resources if she knew Karanza wanted to do harm to herself, and that she joined a socially emotional learning group whose mother gave her permission to attend.

However, her mom claims she is kept in the dark about her young daughter seeking counseling.

“It's not true about that,” says Caranza's mother. Talking to NBC affiliate KXAS-TV Regarding the results of a district survey, including abuse.

“I talk to my daughter about it. As always…no one can touch your body. She spoke to the outlet and added that she had hired an attorney to wait for a response to the district.

“GISD continues to be fully supportive of our families throughout this difficult time,” manager Stewart said in a statement.

“Donations from district schools, PTO groups and staff provide thousands of dollars, gift cards and meals to support the needs of families,” he added. “In addition, I personally met with my mother and family and addressed questions about the investigation.”

Karanza's funeral was held on February 19th.
