Migrant Encounters at Southern Border Hit Lowest-Ever Mark, Down 94 Percent from Last February

Michael W. Banks, a social media post by the US Border Patrol Chief, shows that concerns from February are record-breaking for agents. The bank's post reveals President Trump's incredible impact on illegal migration to the United States in 42 days of his job.

“February proved our combined efforts to ensure border activities,” Chief Banks posted on X.

More than 8,300 immigrants arrested by border patrol agents who illegally crossed the Mexican border to the United States have fallen 94% to 140,641 people they encountered just a year ago. Perhaps even more shocking is the figures falling 82% from December, with President Joe Biden taking office in the last month. With the power transition in January, encounters began to plummet and fell above 29,000

Massive immigrant raids across the United States and consistent messaging from across the Trump administration have led to reduced illegal border crossings. This forced the closure of multiple non-government immigration shelters who once received hundreds of millions of dollars in federal taxes from FEMA, moving further migrants released to await an asylum hearing to the United States.

As reported by Breitbart Texas, two shelters were closed in Pima County, Arizona, in late January, days after President Trump's inauguration. In February, a private, non-governmental immigration shelter was closed in San Antonio, Texas, just a few miles from San Antonio International Airport. The Immigration Resources Centre (MRC) has been partnering with the city of San Antonio and Catholic charities since 2022.

Among other measures that occurred in February, the Trump administration carried out its first military flight to transport migrants to the Guantanamo Bay Detention Center. Cuban camps are currently undergoing amendments that allow up to 30,000 immigrants to be held at facilities located within Guantanamo Bay Navy Station.

Information provided by the Border Patrol revealing new trends in reverse migration contributes to the low number of intersections. Disappointed immigrants turn their backs from the mid-journey in the US to get home.

New trends are also seen in Panama. In Panama, migrants pay boat smugglers to transport them with water to avoid the jungle of Darien Gap when they return to Colombia and Venezuela. As reported by Breitbart Texas, the 8-year-old died last week after capsizing Venezuelan migrants in wild waters, from Panama to Colombia, south, before carrying a smuggler ship.

Breitbart Texas reported Saturday that President Donald Trump doubled the border message of strength through enforcement by deploying 3,000 more aggressive military forces, including the Armored Striker Brigade.

On February 21, Lt. Col. Chris Olivares, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety, reported that the daily immigration anxiety rate along the southwest border fell below 200 for the first time when agents encountered 199 immigrants. By February 22nd, that number had dropped to 185.

On February 19, Breitbart, Texas, reported that border encounters in February averaged around 328 per day. If that number was held by the end of the month, immigrant encounters in February could have been as low as 9,200. The actual number reported by Chief Bank exceeded its forecast with the arrests of 8,326 immigrants.

This represents a record record of the CBP report dating back to the last year of the Clinton administration (2000). The previous low came in the third month of President Trump's first inauguration (April 2017), when agents encountered 11,127 immigrants.
