J.T. Miller, Jonathan Quick carry Rangers to shutout win over Predators

JT Miller was a lightning bolt for the Ranger.

This team needs to be electrified, and Miller has proven that he can rock Bruce Hart's drive by playing games every night since he began his second stint in the Broadway 10 game.

Behind a two-point night from Miller, after a strong show from his line, the Rangers beat the predator on a 4-0 Sunday night at Madison Square Garden, pulling within two points of the second wildcard as part of a three-way tie between the Bruins and the Senator.

Miller turned out to be an exact shock to the Rangers system needed for this playoff push.

Goals and Assist On Sunday night, Miller not only expanded his Point Streak to five games, but also increased to his Points total (6 goals, 6 assists) in the first 10 contest with the Rangers.

Production is briefly emphasized, but his physicality and non-stop motors are infectious.

Mika Zibanejad, who has endured the down season, has collected four goals, 11 assists and recorded a plus six ratings since Miller's deal, including two assists recorded on Sunday night.

The Swedish Centre, which has led the NHL in points on 15 from February 1, skated eight of those 10 games on the wing of the Miller.

Miller was just one of many changes to the Rangers lineup this season. This was Sunday night when newcomers Juso Perssinen and Calvin De Hahn debuted Bruce Hart after trade with the avalanche sent Jimmy Voussy and Ryan Lindgren to Colorado.

On Nashville Skating on the second night of the back-to-back schedule, the Rangers took advantage of a tired predator team that lost 10 of the last 13.

Rangers goalkeeper Jonathan Quick has excelled in his 800th NHL game, stopping all 35 shots he faced to record the third shutout of the season and the 63rd of his career.

The Rangers more than doubled the predator shot in goal (15-6) throughout the first period, appearing from there with a 1-0 lead.

His physicality steadily increased until Matt Lempe put Nick Blankenberg on a board leading with his elbows.

Brandenburg went down and Andreas Englund quickly sought retaliation, with the Rangers dropping gloves on the Rangers towering over the fourth liner, and exchanged some hard blows.

He was only asked to fight a minor at the elbow, but Lempe may have to face supplementary discipline from the NHL's Player Safety Bureau.

Especially considering he closed out an eight-game suspension just two months ago.

Artemi Panarin has put Rangers on the board since February 5th, blasting out of a rushing opportunity, caught up in a sharp outlet pass from Alexis Lafrenière past Nashville goalkeeper Justus Annunen and scoring his first goal.

Nashville scored seven of the total 10 penalties called in the game, with the Rangers scoring in one of four power plays.

Instead of taking a shot, Panarin handed it to the plate to Miller, who crashed the net side in the second season with a 2-0 lead.

It counted as Miller's ninth power play point since January 18th. This tied it to third place in the NHL.

The Rangers backhanded the backhand in rushing for the fifth goal of the season with just three goals in two and a half hours.

Brett Berard went into a 4-0 game at the end of the third season.
