Alex Verdugo’s message as sad free agency lingers after Yankees failure

The watch is etched into the possibility that Alex Verdougo will land on the roster before opening day, but it seems that the former Yankee has nothing to do with it.

“At some point” Verdugo captioned a highlight reel posted on Instagram on Saturday, showing highlights from the Yankees tenure, but also included shots of him with the Red Sox and Dodgers.

Opening Day – if you rule out a two-game stint for the Cubs Dodgers in Tokyo – are more than three weeks apart, and Verdugo remains a free agent.

The 28-year-old hasn't signed with the team yet may have been summed up by several factors.

Verudugo may be holding back for a better offer he feels fits with his perceived values, and it is possible that the team is less interested in mediocre players.

While some teams may consider him a sanctuary, Verdugo believes he is the first supervisor.

Top prospect Verdugo owns a career 101 OPS+ and posted a full season worst 83 OPS+ with the Yankees after being bought out in trade with the Red Sox last year.

100 OPS+ is the league average, with Verdugo showing that he's barely above average in his career offensively, coming out of a year when he was 17% below the midterm mark.

Verdugo cut .233/.291/.356 with a full season worst .647 OPS last year, adding 13 Homers and 61 RBIs. And even those numbers have a nasty warning.

The outfielder owned a .757 OPS after Holling after returning to Fenway Park on June 14th, but hit a .205 with the remaining .554 OPS of the season.

He added four Homer and 20 RBIs in his final 80 games.

However, the Yankees continued to give Verdugo's chances after the chance, starting all 14 postseason games, batting .208 (10-48) and finishing Game 5 of the World Series.

While his bats were disappointed, Verdugo provided above average defense. The Fangraphs praised Mark for saving him with a plus seven defensive.

The reunion with the Yankees has not been on the card since the Bronx bombers signed Cody Bellinger. After choosing Verdugo last year, Jackson Dominguez will start replies on the left field.

Verdugo said he hopes he will return at the end of the season.

“I know it wasn't my best personal year in attack,” Verdugo said before Fate Game 5.

“I think there is [the possibility] That might be possible someday we can come back – if it won't be like that again next year, maybe that's another. But I would like to come back and show you the type of player I really are. I think we looked at it defensively and sometimes offensively, but I'm usually much more consistent. ”

With spring training approaching and injured or underperforming clubs acting, there is certainly a chance Verdugo could land with his team.
