Rangers will have the opportunity to take a step closer to history on Wednesday.
Rangers Hold's longest Shut Outstreak won the franchise's first Stanley Cup in four games dating back to the 1927-1928 season.
They leave their second straight shutout victory into a showdown in the yard of East's top team Capitals.
Igor Shesterkin gave 20 performances against the islanders in a 4-0 victory on Monday, while Jonathan Quick made 34 saves for a shutout against Nashville the day before.
“Yeah, that's great,” Shesterkin said after Monday's back-to-back shutout victory.
The Rangers made three consecutive shutouts on five different occasions in franchise history.
The three games of the latest Streak were split between Alexander Georgev and Shesterkin, with the latter two games being netted.
On April 13, the Rangers recorded a 4-0 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers, with Georgiev making 28 saves.
Shesterkin then recorded 20 saves in a 4-0 victory over the Red Wings, then 31 saves on April 19th to win the Jets 3-0.

To create a third consecutive shutout, the Rangers are under a tough challenge against 39-year-old Alexander Ovechkin.
Gretzky, who scored his final 57 regular-season goals for the Rangers, set a record against Wade Flaherty on March 29, 1999 in a 1-1 tie with the Islanders.
Currently, the 12 All-Star has the opportunity to pass the mark 26 years later with 21 games left in the regular season.
Ovechkin has 45 goals and 26 assists against the Rangers in 75 career games.
This season he has three goals and one assist against the Blues Shirt across two games split between Shesterkin and Quick.
In both contests, the rangers lost on two or more goals.
“Our confidence is rising every day,” Shesterkin said he will enter the big match on Wednesday. “So we know what we need to do. We keep focused on the game and try to build something.”
On Tuesday night, we lent the Rangers a hopeful playoff impact, but there are still many games left to play.
A 2-1 hurricane victory over the Red Wings, followed by losses of the Bruins, Flyers and Blue Jackets, and the Rangers moved to the second wildcard spot in the Eastern Conference.
However, there is a high possibility that the Rangers' position will change daily.
Ranger is tied to the red wings of points (66) in the same number of games played (61).
