Florida man Jaythan Lawrence Gilder swallows $769K in stolen diamond earrings: cops

The wrong kind of carat.

An amateur jewel thief swallowed the Tiffany & Company earrings worth $769,000, and $769,000 worth of earrings worth $769,000, according to Orlando police.

Jaythan Lawrence Gilder, 32, was on February 26th at Tiffany & Co in Orlando, Florida. I pretended to be a representative of Orlando Magic Player to access expensive jewelry at the store. WFLA reported.

The defendant allegedly ran out of the store with two sets of earrings: a set of 4.86 carats worth $160,000 and a set of 8.10 carats worth $609,500, according to the local outlet.

Guilder was stopped by Orlando police on Interstate 10 and charged with resisting arrest, but initially claimed theft after failing to find the stolen earrings.

However, while in prison, Guilder “voluntarily” asked staff if they would be charged with “what's in my stomach,” according to an arrest report reviewed by the WFLA.

Guilder is then subjected to a body scan, allowing the detective to find foreign objects passing through the digestive tract.

“These foreign objects are suspected to be earrings from Tiffany & Co., which were filmed in the robbery, but they must be collected by WCSO after passing through the Guilder system before confirming,” the arrest report states.

Guilder has 48 unpaid warrants in Colorado and another Tiffany & Co in Texas in 2022. was charged with stealing.

He is currently being charged with first-degree grand theft and robbery with masks.
