President Trump acknowledged the mother and sisters of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley, who was present during his speech at a joint Congressional session on Tuesday, denounced the Biden administration's death policy.
“Leaken was stolen from us by members of a savage, illegal alien gang who trespassed across Biden's southern border and was arrested when he was sent to the US under the heartless policies of that failed administration,” the chief said.
“It was certainly a failed administration.”
Riley's mother, Allison Phillips, was at the house gallery for Trump's speech, along with her sister, Lauren Phillips.
Trump, 78, spoke about how he signed the Lakeken Riley Act to ratchet immigration enforcement against illegal immigrants charged with certain crimes.
“Last year, I told Laiken's sadistic parents that I would assure her daughter not die in vain,” the president said.
“That's why I signed the law because the 47th President requires the detention of all dangerous criminals that threaten public safety. It's so strong.”
Riley was killed by Tren de Aragua gang member Jose Ibarra on February 22, 2024 and jogged on the University of Georgia campus.
Ibarra, 26, attempts to sexually assault coeducation, but ends up breaking her head with a rock and suffocating her as she fought hard.
Prosecutors said Riley bravely “fought for her life” for an astounding 18 minutes.
These wounds and his DNA, which were later discovered under her nails, became important evidence that would help convict her murderer.
Ibarra was sentenced to life in November without parole for the heartless murder.
He is currently suing his beliefs and life sentence.
Riley's savage death at the hands of illegal immigrants sparked a national fire over the Biden administration's open border policy.
The Ibarra incident also prompted the Raiken Riley Act, which was signed into law by President Trump in January.
The measure also allows the state attorney general to file a lawsuit against the Secretary of Homeland Security if the government fails to enforce immigration laws, particularly in cases where “the state or its residents experience harms, including financial harm exceeding $100.”
IBARRA – An illegal Venezuelan immigrant was released by the Biden administration after coming to pick him up in September 2022 by crossing the border near El Paso, Texas.
He was later arrested in New York City for child danger and stealing again from Walmart in Georgia.
Ice later revealed that Ibarra was not detained after being arrested in the Imperial State.
The Laken Riley Act was passed in January with bipartisan support by Congress.
