Los Angeles County Sues SoCal Edison over Start of Eaton Fire

Los Angeles County officially sued Southern California Edison on Wednesday, claiming its power line caused the spark that sparked the Eton fire on Jan. 7.

The lawsuit is the latest to claim that Edison's equipment caused flames, destroying around 9,000 homes, killing 17 people, and becoming one of the most destructive wildfires in California's history. The Palisade fire, and the cause of the fire to the west, has yet to be determined, but lawsuits have been filed against the Department of Water and Power (LADWP) in Los Angeles for emptying local reservoirs before the fire season.
