Eurostar and French train services halted at Gare du Nord after WW2 bomb found | Paris

Transportation at Paris-Gayre du Nord station was stopped after the World War II bomb, which leads to France's busiest terminal, was found in orbit, officials said.

The mis-explosion bomb was discovered overnight in the centre of the truck during maintenance work outside of St. Dennis, the National SNCF Railway Company said.

A bomb from World War II, train lines outside RER B, wrote in X's post.

The device was discovered around 4am on Friday when he was working on moving the earth near a truck at the Seine-Saint-Denis Département location, 1.5 miles (2.5km) from Gare Du Nord. The mine was sent to the site immediately.

The bombs left behind from World War I and World War II are regularly discovered around France, but it is very rare to find them in such a large population.

All traffic to Gare Du Nord, hosting Eurostar trains and highway and local services from London, was closed as Paris police were working to disable the devices.

According to SNCF, Gare du Nord is the busiest railway terminal in the country, serving an estimated 700,000 trains daily.

French Minister of Transport Philip Tabarott told French radio that the team will head to the scene if it is “mobilized on a large scale” to deal with the devices. He said: “There's nothing to fear, but there are steps we must respect.”

Tabarot added that the team is working as fast as possible within the massive security perimeters and that some disruptions are likely throughout the day, but that they hoped that some trains could resume in the afternoon.

Eurostar encouraged passengers to change tickets and travel another day.

Some French regional trains to their north destinations departed from Gare des Lyon instead.

Train operators estimate that they will not resume by the first half of the afternoon after fleeing from French authorities.

Passengers who were planning to travel by train to Charles de Gaulle Airport were encouraged by the Opera to board the bus.
