On Friday, when he appeared on MSNBC's “Morning Joe,” longtime MSNBC personality Chris Matthews likened President Donald Trump to 20th-century Italian fascist dictator Benito Mussolini.
Matthews said: “He does all this on TV. If you notice, he calls the TV camera for the cabinet meeting he's doing. He redirects cabinet officials and redirects musks. I saw this guy use the TV so no one has done it. He went up on another night on a Tuesday night and talked to Americans and said, “We're paying Social Security checks to 160-year-olds.” Anyone who reads the Obit page knows that it is not true. Everyone knows that we are not spending money on the 20 million people who receive free checks. Such a scam is incredible. But he tells the people in Maga there that they're stealing your money. Don't trust these people in Washington. These are bad people. They are in a deep state. He did that. He spoke about the election being stolen. No one in America will tell you which state was stolen from him. All the Magazine People – Get them in the corner and tell us which state was stolen in 2020. They can't tell you. He just said that. He said they had been stolen. ”
“On television, along with Zelensky, he said it was 'great TV.” I will never forget that. It was great TV that he beat this guy on TV. He and J.D. Vance – and they just did it publicly. So we all know what Donald Trump thinks about Zelensky. He teaches us. He teaches us not to trust Social Security, so he can chase it. Don't trust Ukraine as it chases after Ukraine and reduces its country, its size and importance. This is what Trump is thinking and that's the purpose. It's Mussolini. It is to believe in the leader of what he says verbatim. And that's what Trump does on television. And he does it using us medium.
