Free speech is essential to a free society, but progressive has been distorting its meaning and misleading the masses over the years.
In a recent attack on the Trump administration, CBS host Margaret Brennan argued that “weaponized” freedom of speech caused the Holocaust. This dangerous misrepresentation of history ignores the attempt by the Nazi regime to promote freedom of speech. Her remarks reflect a fundamental misconception of the initial revision.
Courageous Americans must reject this twisted version of free speech and adhere to dialogues that are open, especially on university campuses.
Of course, Brennan is hardly alone. Progressive redefines freedom of speech under the banner of tolerance, equality and “safe spaces.” In fact, this has enabled target discrimination and harassment against those opposing the political agenda. The results are broad-ranging self-censorship and intellectual compatibility.
Americans accustomed to the dystopian reality, where they prayed in public, questioned the origins of Covid-19, and refusing to use someone's favorite pronouns was labelled as a “dangerous” form of speech that sometimes had to be silenced even through violence.
These restrictions have been lifted with Donald Trump's return to the White House. People are slowly reconciliating their freedom to speak without fear of government retaliation, and are carefully expressing opinions that were once considered off-limits. This new freedom is promising, but the fight against state censorship is not over.
Meanwhile, the university campuses are once again in turmoil over the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Activists threatened to occupy Jewish students and buildings, urging administrators to crack down with the new federal stance on such actions in mind. However, protesters argue that their actions are protected as “free speech.”
The same thing happens outside of school. Consider the efforts to train state legislative representative Laurel Libby (R) for the state legislative assembly. For the crime of flagging such cases on social media, Libby was condemned by Congress in a direct party and lire vote.
Let me remind you once more which party poses a threat to democracy.
The Liberal Party often resorts to distorting the truth and rewriting history to justify their extreme measures. Margaret Brennan's comments did not come out of nowhere. They reflect a broader progressive campaign for intellectual conformity, through censorship, intimidation, violence and revisionist history.
In his silent Dogood letter, Benjamin Franklin warned that “those who overthrow the freedom of the nation must start by suppressing speech writing.” Censorship remains the most direct path to tyranny.
Young adults are at an important stage in their lives. It's time to develop resilience and critical thinking.
Brave Americans must reject this twisted version of free speech and defend open dialogue, particularly on university campuses where future leaders are forced and pressured to remain silent. Students are more valuable.
