Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte arrested at airport on ICC warrant

Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte was arrested at Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Tuesday following an order from the International Criminal Court (ICC), which investigates crimes against humanity filed against former leaders.

Duterte, 79, was detained at a Philippine airport after a trip to Hong Kong, the Associated Press reported.

The ICC is investigating “a massive killing that took place under the former president's fatal crackdown on illegal drugs,” the Associated Press said through President Ferdinand Marcos' office.
