Family discovers enormous egg ‘triple the size’ laid by its chicken

These days, the size of the chicken eggs is more important than the size of the chicken.

Rob Griffin and his family were recently unsure when the chicken laid a huge egg that was more than three times its normal size. (See the video at the top of this article.)

The 38-year-old, who lives with Griffin, 38, and three daughters, Ruby, 12, Elsie, 9, and Olive, 9, told news agency SWNS that it took him five hours for Hengail to lay a huge amount of eggs.

The oversized egg weighed over 6 ounces, Griffin said.

Gail's eggs usually weigh about 1 ounce. According to SWNS, the oversized supermarket eggs are around 2.5 ounces.

You can hear Griffin and one of his daughters say, “What?”

One of the girls says it is a “double yorkar” – her father corrects her and says she has a “double yegger.”

“My eldest daughter went to the hatch to see if the chickens had laid anything and she left with this huge egg,” Griffin told SWNS. “It was the size of an ostrich egg.”

Griffin initially thought he was a joke, “someone planted it.”

“It was about three times the size of a regular egg,” he said.

He called it a “unusual phenomenon.”

“We couldn't believe it,” Griffin said.

“We thought it would be double egg yolk, but when the second egg fell, we were shocked. We didn't even know that would happen.”

Griffin told SWNS he broke a small egg from inside, but he told him it was normal and has its own yolk.
