Melissa Dorgerty challenged her deep-rooted beliefs before having her first child, and eventually came to the New Age mindset before being exposed.
“Of all of the people, it was the two Witnesses of Jehovah's Witnesses who challenged me, and I am studying them. I am studying them, and I am studying them, “Oh, I believe that I am wrong, I believe that I am wrong, I believe that I am wrong, but if I believe that the Bible is true, I believe that I am wrong.” Ally Beth Stucky “Friendly”.
“So it was like a rug pulled from underneath me, but after I got out of it, I'm like, 'Yeah, I'm a former new ager,'” she continues.

The New Age movement is often confused with new ideas, but they are not the same, but both are permeated with Christianity. The new idea places more emphasis on God's power as a source.
“Personally, it's one of the issues that specifically have new thinking teachings,” she tells Stucky, a practice like “affirmation.”
“What many don't realize is the prayers of new thoughts, where affirmations are, they were created by a new thinking movement, to speak now positive prayers, essentially to reveal what it is.”
“In other words, you don't say it as if you have it, and your emotions are very important. Emotions are everything about new ideas. That's your power,” she explains.
When Dougherty argued these beliefs with Christians, she realized that more progressive Christians often have ideas that match new thinking movements.
“The new ideas as movement are interwoven throughout America, but they are also adopted by many Christians in many churches, giving us this alternative Jesus.
“These are certainly two different moves, but the fact that you can find so many new thinking beliefs between progressives is very interesting,” she continues, noting that phrases like “your true real self” are woven into both ways.
“And while many of what you said can be specifically seen in different ways of progressivism, gender is the first way to come to mind,” commented Stucky.
“When you serve your own God,” she continues, “You have the power of speech to declare a new reality that everyone else must submit to.”
