Stefano Domenicali intends to remain in his current role in Formula 1 for several years.
In a statement Wednesday before Australia's Grand Prix Liberty Media began its season, Domenicali announced that he will continue as F1 president and CEO for another five years, extending his term until the 2029 season. Since taking on the role in early 2021, Domenicali has guided us through a new era of global growth in sports, including expansion in the US. Both the Miami Grand Prix and the Las Vegas Grand Prix joined the schedule under his leadership.
“We are excited to renew Stefano and look forward to his leadership with the talented management of Formula 1 over the next few years. Derek Chang, president and CEO of Formula 1 ownership group Liberty Media, said:
“His energy and enthusiasm for sports leads to highly effective strategies and outcomes. On behalf of Liberty, we are grateful for his partnership and are incredibly optimistic about the continued success that Formula 1 teams can drive for sports, fans, partners and shareholders.”
“I am honored to continue leading this incredible sport. It's something I love, and has been a part of my life since I was a child and I am grateful to the Liberty Media team for their trust,” Domenicali said. “Together with all the F1 stakeholders involved, we will continue to bring our fans the best benefits as our fans are the heartbeat of everything we do. Passion, energy and adrenaline are the fuels that empower me every day to give my absolute best to the Formula.”
The 2025 Formula 1 schedule includes 24 races, another aspect of Domenicali's leadership. Under his stewardship, the schedule has expanded, moving from 19 races in 2019 (last season before the Covid-19 pandemic) to the current schedule of two dozen races.
This year's schedule begins at the Australian Grand Prix later this week.
