Katie Porter announces run for California governor — and may go head-to-head against Kamala Harris

Former Congressman Katie Porter (D-Calif) announcement A run for the California governor after failing to win a Democrat nomination for one of California's seats in the US Senate.

Democrats' government's Gavin Newsom will be in office in 2026, with Democrats looking worried about who will take the mantle because of the largely populated left and right state. Porter has yet to win statewide elections, but has given his name for himself while representing the United States.

Porter lost his Senate nomination at the time, but lost to the range he was at the time. Adam Schiff served as a springboard for her statewide ambitions.

That is, unless the failed presidential candidate Kamala Harris jumps into the fight.

Harris shows President Donald Trump is deciding on her next step after a catastrophic loss. Among her choices is a possible campaign for the California governor, but others believe she may try to run for president again in 2028.

According to an internal vote reported by Politico, Porter has a bigger lead than other possible governor candidates on the left. However, Harris was not included in the contest.

She also appears to be setting the focus of her campaign against Trump.

“As governor, when Trump hurts Californians, I will never step back. He is either disaster relief or attacking our rights, attacking our community, ruining working families and benefiting myself and his associates,” she said.

She may have some issues given the law enforcement issues involved with his ex-boyfriend, who accused him and her children of becoming “aggressive” and “violent.” Porter was given a restraining order against him.

“She's a monster,” he said.
