Wild brawl caught on video at HS basketball playoff game; 7 arrested, including 3 minors and 1 player

A wild brawl broke out in a Pennsylvania High School basketball playoff game last week, resulting in the arrests of seven people, including three 16- and 18-year-olds.

The game took place last Friday at Maidville Area High School, less than an hour south of Ellie, in the northwest corner of the state. Meadville visited Uniontown Area High School, about 20 minutes south of Pittsburgh.

Both schools must meet the list of requirements imposed by the PIAA. Alternatively, the boys' basketball team will be banned from the state playoffs next season.

However, the opponent never finished the contest.

Meadville, who leads 63-55 with 3 minutes and 12 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, was stopped when the fight broke out in the stands. It quickly spread to the court, Triblive reported.

What now?

Both schools must fulfill the list of requirements imposed by the PIAA. Or their boys basketball teams will be banned from the state playoffs next season, the outlet explained.

Schools must submit an action plan “details which processes are being implemented to prevent such situations from occurring in the future,” he added, with the deadline being March 19th.

All players and coaches on the current roster must complete educational courses related to sportsmanship, the outlet said.

Audiences “whose identity is known to school administrators” must be banned from attending school-sponsored activities until June 15, 2026.

PIAA also prides each school for violating PIAA ordinances by “not dealing with sportsman-like behavior” by audiences, the outlet said.

Something else?
