Attorney General Pam Bondy warned Tesla Vandals on Friday to be “watched” as the Trump administration attempts to crack down on Tesla dealers and people targeting cars.
Bondi said it has launched an investigation into violent demonstrations, aiming to become an Elon Musk electric vehicle (EV) company.
“They are targeting Tesla dealers. At the stations that handle Tesla, they're destroying cars,” she told Fox Business Network's “Mornings with Maria.”
“I've already started a research to see how this is funded. Who is behind this and are you doing this?”
“We have someone on top of it,” she continued. “We have someone in prison right now from one of the dealers. They threw a Molotov cocktail at the dealer. They're watching up to 20 years in prison.”
A Colorado woman was arrested last month for spray painting “Nazi” on a Tesla dealer's autograph and igniting a Molotov cocktail during multiple visits.
“If you're trying to touch Tesla, go to the dealer and do anything.
Protesters have targeted Tesla showrooms in recent weeks, destroying several dealers, cars and charging stations.
Tesla has become an important goal amidst his dissatisfaction with Musk's prominent and controversial role in the Trump administration, leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) push to reduce government spending through substantial cuts in government spending and federal labor and federal funding and grants.
EV shares plummeted, falling 15% on Monday alone and nearly 30% in the past month.
President Trump has tried to show support for his close allies amid the chaos, claiming he is being “unfairly treated.” Trump promised to buy a Tesla on Tuesday, testing several different models parked outside the White House.
He also suggested he would be open to labeling people who carry out violence at Tesla dealers as “domestic terrorists.”
“I'll do that, I'll do that, Trump said Tuesday when he pointed out that reporters think the head should be labeled as domestic terrorists.
“When we catch them, those people are about to go through a big problem,” he said, “You do it to Tesla, you do it to any company, we'll catch you, and you'll go through hell.”
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) also said on Wednesday that Congress would investigate the attacks on Tesla vehicles and their owners, promote Musk's “heroic work” and describe the incident as “domestic terrorism.”
