CNN host Jake Tapper on “Lead” on Friday said during a speech to the Justice Department that President Donald Trump's claims of illegality regarding the news network “is not true.”
Tapper said: “Let's look to our laws and justice. President Donald Trump, who has long let go of the Justice Department's politicization, came to the DOJ conference this afternoon and presented one of the most political speeches given by the US president.”
In his speech, Trump said, “Americans have given us a mandate, giving us truly far away.
“It appears that some of the orders include prosecuting people in the news media who don't cover him brilliantly,” Tapper said.
Trump said, “The CNN and MSDNC, who literally write that they're 97.6% bad about me, are Democrats' political weapons, and in my opinion, they're really corrupt and illegal. What they do is illegal.”
He added: “Today, in front of a room full of DOJ employees and prosecutors, the president has listed political opponents. We didn't show you their names. And news media like CNN have shown them their names, offering his passionate coverage. Based on his remarks, it appears that President Trump is not opposed to the Justice Department's weaponization. He appears to be opposed to someone else wielding that weapon. Now he has it, and who knows who will come next.”
