Georgetown University researcher detained by ICE, accused of ‘promoting antisemitism’

The report says researchers at Georgetown University were detained by federal immigration authorities on Monday for allegations that they spread Hamas propaganda on social media.

Badal Khan Suri, an Indian citizen with a US student visa, was arrested in his home in Roslyn, Virginia by a masked agent in the Department of Homeland Security, his lawyers alleged in the lawsuit, CBS News reported.

Suri, who teaches and studies as a fellow postdoc at university, was told by a DHS agent that her student visa had been revoked, the report said.

His arrest comes amid the Trump administration's attempt to deport Mahmoud Khalil, a graduate student at Columbia University, to join the anti-Israel protests.
