L.A. Sparks Promise Vetting of Male Practice Players After Cameron Brink Raises Concerns

Los Angeles Sparks star Cameron Brink aired concerns over the team's plans for the team to practice and practice male players. These complaints were heard.

Earlier this week, Brink expressed reservations about the team's plan to audition for male practice players, saying she hopes they are “gay.”

“All the comments are like, 'Cameron let me back down,' or something about Recare or Kelsey. I said.

She added, “Who trusts us to come to this gym?”

To address these concerns, the spark is I'll say it TMZ plays sports when male players undergo a thorough background screening.

“The Los Angeles Sparks are committed to promoting a safe and respectful environment for all players, and we want to emphasize that player safety remains our number one priority,” the team said.

The team also claims that none of the players are involved in the tryout process.

“In addition, players selected to the training squad undergo a thorough background check process to ensure the safety and well-being of the athletes,” the team explained.

Sparks further claims they have been using male practice players since the team began in 1997. Other WNBA teams, such as Phoenix and Dallas, also use male players.

Either way, male players are scrutinized in close scrutiny and sound quite a bit of attention is paid to the safety of Sparks players.
