Florida woman drowns dog at Orlando International Airport after traveler couldn’t board flight to Colombia

Police said the Florida woman was told she could not take her dog on a flight departing from Orlando International Airport, so she ended up killing her dog in the airport bathroom.

Alison Agatha Lawrence, 57, was arrested on March 18th. She was charged with three felony, aggravated animal cruelty, according to arrest records.

“This isn't a water bottle or an oversized bottle of shampoo.”

Lawrence was taken into custody in Clermont and then taken to the Lake County Jail. She was released after posting a $5,000 bond, Prison Records.

On December 16, 2024, Orlando Police Station officials responded to reports that an airport employee had found a “dead animal” in a woman's public toilet in front of a security checkpoint.

WESH-TV Lawrence reported that he brought a small white miniature schnauzer dog named Tywin to Orlando International Airport to board a flight to Bogota, Colombia.

Police said surveillance video showed Lawrence and her dog talking to airline employees at the airport.

“Source said she was trying to get on the flight but the dog couldn't ride and didn't have the proper documentation that she couldn't take it.” WFTV-TV It has been reported.

Sources were told by the news outlet that Lawrence had owned her pet in the airport bathroom.

Lawrence is “are believed to have taken an extreme and tragic behavior by killing a dog,” the Orlando Police Department said.

Officers reportedly were brought to garbage bags containing dead dogs and some dog accessories.

A female airport employee reportedly told police that she saw a woman sitting on the floor of a stall toilet cleaning “a lot of water and lot of dog food.”

The employee had to fall into a “clean-up emergency,” but when she returned about 20 minutes later, she reportedly witnessed Lawrence leaving the food stall and leaving with her wallet and suitcase.

At that point, the employee removed the garbage bag from the canister and discovered the dead dog because the bag was heavier than normal, according to the affidavit. WOFL-TV The dog reported that it was “wet and warm.”

It was later determined that necrosis occurred and that it was likely that the dog died from drowning.

Animal Services found Lawrence using a dog microchip.

Police said Lawerence's name and contact information are on the deceased animal dog tag. Dog Tag's name matched Lawrence's passport, which she was on the flight.

After the dog's death, Lawrence went through security and eventually boarded a flight to Columbia, a probable cause statement said.

“The Greater Orlando Aviation Administration is fully working with all law enforcement officials regarding possible criminal activity on airport property,” a spokesman for the Greater Orlando Aviation Administration said.
