Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) told Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to “deal with that” on Friday after lawmakers pleaded that Democrats “need to fight harder.”
“This isn't just Republicans. We need Democrats who fight harder for us,” Ocasio-Cortez told the crowd at a Las Vegas rally on Thursday.
Her comments – Part of the “Combat Oligarchy” tour of the far left “squad” officials comes a week after 10 Senate Democrats, including Fetterman, joined with Republicans, went on a continuous resolution to ensure the government doesn't close.
House Democrats almost unanimously rejected the six-month spending bill created by the GOP, and passed it with the help of Senate Democrats before heading to the Senate.
The CR vote, along with several House Democrats, including Ocasio-Cortez, expressed dissatisfaction with colleagues in the Upper Chamber over the vote.
But Fetterman doesn't have it.
The Pennsylvania Democrat wrote to X, responding to the headline highlighting Ocasio-Cortez's comments, “Fight hard” – a stunt that would have hurt millions of people and confused us.”
“We've kept the government open and we'll deal with that,” the senator added.
Ocasio-Cortez is not the only Democrat to criticize her party in the aftermath of the CR vote.
“I'm tired of several Senate Democrats giving up our first leverage,” Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) told attendees, referring to the CR vote at Minnesota town hall event on Thursday.
The “Squad” lawmaker further argued that Democrats “understand the perfect message and are obsessed with not doing the perfect thing.”
“I think there needs to be a moment for Democrats that comes to Jesus,” Omar added, claiming that some of the Blue Party “want to bring a knife into the shootout and haven't gotten up at that moment.”

Earlier this week, Rep. Glenn Evie (D-MD) argued that Senate Democrats should be overhauled in leadership after receiving the CR vote.
“I thought it was important to make sure we blocked that bill. I've deeply disappointed it. [Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY] I voted with a Republican,” Ivy. I told his members At City Hall on the eastern suburbs of Washington, DC.
“I respect Chuck Schumer. I think he had a great, long career. He's done a lot of great things,” Ivy continued. “But as we move forward, I'm worried that there will be a time when Senate Democrats will choose a new leadership.”
Schumer initially showed that Senate Democrats wouldn't help Republicans move forward with spending bills, but they quickly fell into the Republicans in a procedural vote and voted.
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif) told reporters earlier this week that she is confident in Schumer's ability to lead the Democratic Caucus in the Senate in the future, but claimed he has made too many concessions to Republicans.
“I myself give nothing for nothing,” Pelosi said. “I think that's what happened the other day.”
