Farmers almanacs just released their spring weather predictions — here’s when we can expect warm weather

Even though I didn't feel the temperature yet, spring was coming. With the new season, Old Farmers Almanac and Farmers Almanac have released spring weather forecasts to help planters and families plan their calendars in the coming months.

Unlike daily weather forecasts, which provide updated forecasts based on the latest weather data and models, both yearbooks take a holistic approach to long-distance forecasting, combining the effects of space weather from solar, climatology and weather.

Almanac issues forecasts up to a year ahead, but meteorologists say they are challenging what you say to you.

Both yearbooks boast accurate forecasts, but as with the 2025 winter forecast, their spring outlook is at odds in several areas.

Outlook warns you that they will keep those jackets handy in June at Intermountain West before cleaning your closet in the spring.

“April could be warmer than average across Intermountain West in April, but chilly spells could lead to late frosts in some areas of May.”

Spring is a season of harsh weather, with parts of the plains, the Midwest and south already experiencing a deadly tornado outbreak in March. Smerbeck and Thompson write that “a relatively active, bad weather season is expected,” especially in the deep south where more frequent thunderstorms are expected.

Meanwhile, the spring outlook for Old Farmers Almanac shows the arid conditions of northern New England, southern Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, America's Heartland, West Ohio Valley and Lower Great Lakes, North High Plains, Upper Midwest and Pacific Northwest.

The weather spring began with “Zing,” with dozens of tornadoes, and the farmer's yearbook, founded in 1818, suggests that astronomical spring will continue with this dangerous precedent.

However, this is where the outlook for the duel yearbook begins.

Temperature and rain forecasts vary in several regions of the United States, including the Northeast, the Northern Plains and the Southwest.

Both yearbooks line the Pacific Northwest with cool temperatures continuing through June.
