Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) said the government's Institute of Accountability (GAO) report was loose surveillance by the SBA, which exceeded tens of billions of dollars in coronavirus aid loans, and grants that were drew during the Biden administration. Ernst can't decide which is worse.
Gao, nonpartisan watchdog, release A study on the SBA's four-stage anti-disability process, in which the SBA distributed more than $1 trillion in loans and grants to more than 10 million small businesses during the 2020-2022 coronavirus pandemic.
The four-stage process consisted of screening, data analysis, human-driven reviews and referrals of fraud claims to the SBA's Inspector's Office (OIG).
Although processes and various measures were introduced at different times for the Covid-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loan (Covid-19 EIDL) and Payroll Protection Plan (PPP), “SBA did not implement the process until more than half of the program's funds have been approved, limiting the impact on fraud prevention,” Gao wrote.
“Specifically, for Covid-EIDL, $385 billion (or about 55%) had already been paid out of the final $385 billion (or about 55%), more than $210 billion, before the full process was implemented. For PPP, the final $800 billion (or about 66%) had already been approved.
GAO recommends that SBA administrator Kelly Loeffler “works with SBA's OIG to create an effective plan that includes the data elements provided and the processes used.
Caitlin O'Dea, a spokesman for administrator Loeffler, told Breitbart News that the SBA works 24 hours a day to hold those who committed the fraud accountable. She said in a statement:
The SBA fully supports all efforts to crack down on fraud within the loan program. This is in stark contrast to the last administration that failed to investigate or deal with over $200 million in fraud during the estimated pandemic era. Under manager Loeffler, the SBA has already taken action to strengthen fraud prevention and will continue to work to hold pandemic-era fraudsters accountable in partnership with law enforcement.
The SBA is not alone in these efforts.
Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA), chairman of the Senate Small Business Committee and chairman of the Senate Office of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Caucus, said he is committed to working with the SBA to spot fraud during the coronavirus pandemic era, restructuring funds and allowing criminals to be awarded.
“The Biden SBA was completely asleep on the wheels pursuing fraud in its pandemic relief program,” Ernst said in a statement to Breitbart News. The institution's shortcomings prevented millions of investigations from occurring, allowing potential criminals to escape. The report reveals either surprising incompetent or intentional negligence by the bureaucrats who oversee these programs. ”
Doge recently revealed that $312 million of the coronavirus aid scam has been sent to children under the age of 11. Ernst said the scam was merely the “tip of the iceberg.”
Ernst's office is available Catalog Many ways coronavirus aid is being abused:
While SBA runs relief programs on a “first come, first serve” basis, money is quickly gone, and many qualified businesses are felony, Gang membersand Drug Trafficker I raked them together with cash. Several scammers have been uploaded Barbie doll photos as photo identification About approved SBA loan applications.
The scammer is said to have returned home $8 million meanwhile Nearly 2,000 struggling restaurants in Iowa It was left empty-handed. Ernst detailed this in her report entitled Small and Medium Business COVID-19 Scam: Play status three years later – She outlined the Biden SBA's efforts to discount the entire scope of fraud and question legitimate presumptions by expert investigators.
Ernst and Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) survey in 2023 Found The total loan to the fraudulent Social Security Number was $5.4 billion.
