A storm of dissent against MAGA is brewing into a hurricane

The momentum has changed. President Donald Trump’s shocking approach to maga governance has created shock and disgust among Americans.

A large protest rally was broughtMillionsPeople on April 5th in the streets of all the states’ big cities and small towns.

People were protesting against the lawlessness of the Trump administration. Abuse of that power. That invitation and Students are expelled Oppose the President. That scary Practice To acquiring people, ship them out to be tortured in foreign prisons without the opportunity to prove their innocence.

Many of us also resisted decades of common sacrificeinvestmentFrom medical research to national parks, everything. We were there bravely to protest the dictatorshiprequestWhat Trump created for ideological censorship in history, art, education and science.

The president’s stubborn recklessness went home for millions of Americans in a deeply damaging and personal way. People living economically vulnerableRetirementOr, for those years, still savings saw a large portion of their savings being wiped out by a meaningless, self-destructive trade war.

There were a lot.

There is no doubt that the presidency of Project 2025 has been out of balance in the first two months with the malicious anti-American Blitzkrieg intent.

I have heard it over and over again from despairing Americans longing for what to do. I have heard from angry people that their elected representatives have not continued to use their platforms and power to delay attacks.

Those who gathered at the National Mall on April 5th were angry and suffering. But they were also energised. They were happy to be surrounded by many others who were willing to turn the tide.

At some point in the afternoon, the wind was changing and it felt like the rain was about to fall. I felt it physically, but also in a phorical and mental manner.

That shift did not begin on April 5th. Tesla takedown for a few weeksprotestFor the joyous cruelty and destruction of billionaire Elon MuskSpread itNational and the world.

And just a few days before the April 5 rally, Sen. Cory Booker (DN.J.) condemned the hardships caused by Trump’s recklessness.25 hours of speechThe exhibition strongly appeals to rebellion and determination.

Still, the extremely arrogant Trump advances bullying, intimidating, harsh obedience in his way. He dares to inviting his fellow Republicans to invite him to his rage by crossing him in a minimal way. And Congressional Republicans are, with few exceptions, in line, offering praise or pointless justification for Trump’s destructive policies.

But I think they feel the wind is changing. That’s why so many House Republicans, even in the deepest red districts, haveRefusing to meetWith their members. They don’t want to protect the massive cutsCare for VeteransorSocial Security Bureau.

Trump doesn’t admit it, but he also feels a change. Why is he?AbandonPlans to make Rep. Elise Stefanik (RN.Y.) the UN ambassador? Her district is usually as safe as a Republican seat. But Trump couldn’t expect Republican alternatives to win a special election there.

Trump overestimates his hand. Americans find their voices and courage.

Republican officials like House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) remind us of children who want to continue playing baseball games. Johnson can see the brewing of the storm, but he turns away from the threat.

there wasBig changeSince the start of his second term, I have been extremely excited about Trump’s favor, especially among Republicans, among younger voters. newOpinion surveyFrom the economist /Yougov discovered that Trump’s net favoritism among voters under the age of 30 had plummeted from +5 at the start of his term to -24 in early April.

Americans looking at the reality of Project 2025 Presidency seem to have the same insight into legendary James Baldwin supporting RepublicansI had itAbout previous generations: “I can’t believe you… because I see what you’re doing.”

Congressional Republicans still have time to do the right thing and stand up to Trump. If they do not move to do it for historical heritage, they should be motivated by their next election.
