The Trump administration has frozen over $2 billion in multi-year grants and contracts at Harvard University after leaders ruled out diversity, equity and inclusion programs, ban masks in campus protests, enact merit-based employment and admissions reforms, and refused to reduce the power of faculty and administrators.
“Harvard wants to have cakes and eat them,” Dr. Kevin Roberts, president of the Heritage Foundation, told Liz Wheeler on The Liz Wheeler Show. “We want to allow anti-Semuses on campus, its students and faculty members. This is what we want to continue with our DEI policy that is violated by federal law.”
“However, Harvard is so special in the eyes of his own president, proven by his announcement yesterday, that he wants to continue to take part in the multi-billion dollar throne in federal student loans and grants,” continues Roberts.

“My advice to Harvard University’s president is that you can’t get a cake and eat it. Choose one or the other. You’ll either join the program and comply with federal laws or decide you don’t like what the federal government is telling you, and stop participating in those programs,” he adds.
The Trump administration is considering further researching Harvard and freeing up another $9 billion student loans and research grants.
“You know, what money that keeps Harvard open really funds what I call, if they lose this money, they need to fundamentally change,” he added.
“A really big pot of money for Harvard is a research grant,” exclaims Roberts.
“I think the administration will win,” he added.
