Russell Crowe, Whoopi Goldberg, Antonio Banderas Mourn Death of Pope Francis

(UPI) – Many celebrities, including Russell Crowe, Whoopi Goldberg, Antonio Banderas and Robin Roberts, went to social media on Monday, mourning the death of Pope Francis at the age of 88.

The 266th leader of the Roman Catholic Church and the first Latin American Pope have passed away for several hours after greeting US Vice President J.D. Vance at the Vatican and cruising the Square of St. Peter in his Popemovie to bless thousands of people on Easter Sunday.

He was seriously ill and had been battling respiratory problems for weeks, but vowed not to retire.

“It’s a beautiful day in Rome, but a sad day for the faithful. Lip Francis,” Crow wrote in X along with a photo of the Italian city.

“For a long time, he seemed to remember that the love of Christ was enveloping his followers and that there were none of them.” Goldberg said On Instagram.
