Biden’s National Security Adviser Calls Trump’s First 100 Days an ‘Unmitigated Catastrophe’!

Biden national security adviser: Trump's first 100 days in office 'unadulterated disaster'

Former national security adviser Jake Sullivan criticized President Trump in a recent interview, describing the initial 100 days of his second term as a “total catastrophe.”

“It’s not merely about policies; President Trump and his team succumbed to fundamental global advantages and systematically attempted to undermine them,” said Sullivan, who served under the Biden administration, during his appearance on Tuesday. “Meidastouch” podcast.

A previous White House official directed remarks at the Secretary of Defense, targeting budget cuts and restructuring within the Pentagon. Pete Hegses criticized the situation.

“I firmly believe… Chief Hegses should not have been nominated in the first place. So, none of this was foreseeable. Appointing someone like this was anticipated by many who warned it would lead to disastrous management at the Pentagon.

“Furthermore, we highlighted other striking statements from his former senior aide; we were dismissed without justification. We don’t grasp the reasons behind this.

Sullivan also indicated that the economic policies introduced by the Trump administration in the early days, deportation initiatives, and attacks on research have notably diminished the US’s standing on the global stage.

“In all significant aspects that constituted a major advantage for America, within 100 days, President Trump jeopardized them all.

“This pertains to the foundational elements of America’s power and purpose globally, and President Trump’s endeavors to dismantle them,” he added.

Sullivan remarked that Trump’s assertions on the campaign trail about concluding the war in Ukraine within 24 hours of returning to the White House were “absurd.”

“It reflects a disastrous misinterpretation of the circumstances. I hardly know where to begin. This conflict is instigated by Russia, and ultimately it rests with [Russian] president [Vladimir] Putin,” Sullivan stated.

He noted that Trump misrepresented the situation “in reverse.”

Sullivan also cautioned that US allies may lean toward China amid uncertainty, citing the trade war with the US’s largest partner and the president’s remarks regarding Greenland’s acquisition.

“Only the United States has this robust network of democratic allies, and President Trump’s actions are essentially paving the way for China,” Sullivan said.

“He is dismantling this tremendous asset by himself. I believe there are significant costs involved, but one of the largest is that to effectively compete with China moving forward, he risks isolation in this trade conflict.

Sullivan emphasized that officials from the Trump administration must revise their approach in the Pentagon and engage with traditionally nonpartisan civil servants to reinforce national security.

“They are dispatching inexperienced individuals to various agencies, undermining efficiency, and failing to address individuals accountable for our nuclear program,” Sullivan pointed out.

“This is wholly unacceptable, cruel, and what should disturb American values is our desire for greater efficiency; we expect decent civil servants to receive the treatment they deserve.”
