New Delhi:
A study by Hindenburg, a US-based short-seller, which was closed weeks after Joe Biden lost the presidential election this January, faced a decisive counterattack from the Adani group targeted by the short-seller in January 2023.
The Hindenburg report came out a few days ago when Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani was in Israel and was in Israel to finalise a $1.2 billion deal to acquire Haifa’s port. The winning bid comes from a joint venture between Gadot Masofim for Chemicals Ltd and Adani Ports and Empicual Economic Zone Ltd.
It took 18 months to bid, assess and clearance for the privatization of Haifa Port. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attended the signing on January 31, 2023.
Vijay Patel running the Fact Check websiteJust the facts‘, supported new information from the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, posted a thread on X detailing what he discovered during his work on Hindenburg’s hit hit job.
Patel said Adani was in Israel on January 31, 2023 to finalise the cooperation agreement for the Port of Haifa, but in private, the two leaders were discussing Hindenburg’s report on the Adani group.
“This meeting created Operation Zeppelin,” Patel said.
“When Mossad agents began monitoring the Hindenburg office, they found a complicated web of activist lawyers, journalists, hedge funds and politicians,” he said.
“Most surprising, Mossad spies have permeated premises in the suburban neighborhood of Oakbrook Terrace, a small Illinois town outside Chicago. They successfully encrypted communications between privately hosted alternative asset management companies and activists based in India, the US, Europe, Canada and Australia,” Patel said.
He claimed that the same address was also the overseas parliament of India.

The announcement by Hindenburg that it would be shut down had raised doubts about the harm it had inflicted on Indian investors. Hindenburg founder Nate Anderson said the short seller has completed the project being handled.
Senior lawyer Sedarth Lutla told NDTV that Anderson had decided to dissolve Hindenburg, and that he came after the Supreme Court ordered all institutions related to the matter to investigate the matter.
Political analyst Rajat Sethi said foreign companies operating outside of India’s jurisdiction attempted to influence the Indian market, which led to losses for investors.
Anderson’s announcement sparked more important questions. Does the dissolution of Hindenburg prove the nature of the organization’s filming and scoot? What do you say about people who believe in the Hindenburg report? Was it a conspiracy of deep states and foreign elements? Will Hindenburg still be punished? Or was it a major foreign intervention in the “Indian Tales”?
Rajya Sabha MP and senior lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani had argued that the dissolution of Hindenburg signaled deeper meaning, suggesting the fear of investigation into the possibility of scrutiny by US authorities or its role in targeting Adani group companies.
Jesmarani linked development to the “democratic deep” led by billionaire George Soros, calling it an act of “economic terrorism” aimed at destabilizing India.
At the annual general meeting in June 2024, Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani said the group “facing unfounded accusations by foreign short-sellers who questioned our decades of efforts.”
