Police bodycam video shows a Florida man offering officers during a Mile long car chase where the suspect is being tasseled and the suspect being charged with DUI ends up with a Florida man, according to law enforcement officials.
At about 3pm on Saturday, Spring Lake Market employees reported that the man had stole several items, including alcoholic beverages. Police later identified the suspect as 39-year-old Richard Christopher Smith of Miami.

Deputies from the Highland County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the crime scene and reportedly found a man driving a black minivan around the store. However, the suspect fled when police arrived.

The Highland County Sheriff’s Office pointed out that Smith had a can of Ketel and a can of Ketel through a minivan window.
Smith is heard in body cam footage saying, “I was just going to give you a drink.”

“After toast, Smith tried to hit two patrol vehicles while flattening all four tires with a spike strip,” police said.
Police body cam footage shows the spike strips de-tap the tires, preventing the vehicle from driving at high speeds.
Police pursuits reportedly ended a few miles away in the Sebring Airport business’s parking lot.
Bodycam’s video shows the minivan stopped and its front hit an unmarked police SUV.
When Smith leaves the minivan, officers pull the gun towards him and order the suspect to get on the ground. The suspect does not follow orders and casually roams around as he smokes.
As the shoeless blacksmith continues to advance towards the aide, the officer attacks the suspect.
Smith is seen in a police body cam video asking what he has been arrested. The adjutant then replies, “A lot of stupid s**t now.”
The footage of the bodycam shows the police officer who has been arrested with blood from Smith’s head, “You guys had fun, right?” The officers don’t seem to be entertained by the suspect’s questions.
The sheriff’s office said about the incident, “What happens is strange whenever you’re in law enforcement, but this might make a book.”
“We are very interested in hearing from others who were offered vodka spritzer by the suspect in the middle of the vehicle pursuit,” police added. “Or the same suspect calmly tried to get away from the crash.
According to Prison RecordsSmith faces a series of charges, including a law enforcement officer battery, two aggravated assaults against a law enforcement officer, resisting arrests and driving under the influence, refusing to submit to a DUI test, and minor theft.
Smith’s bond was set at $120,000.
