Meghan McCain: Ocasio-Cortez’s message 'more powerful than people are giving her credit for'

Meghan McCain, daughter of the late Senator John McCain (R-Ariz.), said Thursday that he hopes that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (DN.Y.) will run for a higher office, supported by an effective economic message.

“She’s going to keep running, and the message of economic populism is stronger than people are giving her credit,” McCain, a conservative media host, wrote in a post on social platform X.

She was responding to a 90-second clip released by X’s “Team AOC” account. The video highlighted the remarks made by the progressive New Yorker during a stop in Idaho on an “Fighting Oligarchy” tour with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on April 14th.

“This is everything in this country. Don’t trick us into thinking we are our enemies. Don’t fool us into thinking that we can separate ourselves into countryside and cities, black and white, Latino.”

“Idaho, I know that looking here, Republicans can feel that it is impossible for them to lose here. That’s not true. And from the waitress who is telling you now to you today, I can tell you.

McCain is the latest observer to speculate on future potential future rises in the Democrats.

Former speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif) said progressives like Ocasio-Cortez would “salve more money than they run against Republicans,” thinking Ocasio-Cortez could become the next leader in a few years.

Voter Nate Silver was also nominated as his early pick to become the party leader in the next White House election cycle.

Ocasio-Cortez raised nearly $9.6 million in the first quarter of this year. This is her biggest three-month donation period. She enters the second quarter with $8.2 million in cash on hand.
