Strong Economy ‘Life and Death’ for House GOP

When he appeared on the Fox Business Network’s “Kudrow” broadcast on Wednesday, former House Speaker Newt Ginrich warned House Republicans about the weak economic political outcomes when the 2026 medium-term elections approach.

According to Ginrich, a strong economy was “life and death” for House Republicans.

“You know, Henry Kissinger once told me that it took me 48 hours to all the major decisions he was involved in,” Ginrich said. “We didn’t know when 48 hours would happen, but when we came down to the crunch it took 48 hours. Sooner or later the problem won’t go away. We know what they are. [House Committee on Energy and Commerce chairman Brett] For example, Guthrie [House Ways and Means chairman Jason] The Smith of the house really did an amazing job of bringing together teams. I think you’ll see so many conversations, and in the end, in a few weeks, they’ll grind the way to a solution. ”

“But looking, this is life and death for House Republicans, because if they have the opportunity to maintain a majority, they have to have a strong economy in 2026,” he added. “If there’s a bad economy next year, Republicans won’t keep the House. So the Senate doesn’t feel the same pressure. This is unfortunate. But from President Trump’s perspective, I think it’s very clear that he has to have a Republican home and a Senate to make the final two years of his term successful.”
