As the 2025 NFL Draft approached, rumors began to swirl that the Jacksonville Jaguars were involved in trade near the top of the draft committee. Speculation has grown that Jaguar is trading from No. 5, allowing the team to approach No. 5 to draft Boise State and run Ashton Jeanti.
Jaguar is certainly traded from number 5.
But in a different direction.
Instead of trading down, Jacksonville is approaching. Jaguar and new general manager James Gladstone made a big swing as they moved up to second place in the 2025 NFL Draft on a contract with the Cleveland Browns.
Are they likely targeting players? Colorado WR/CB Travis Hunter Jr.
ESPN Source:
The Browns are trading Jaguars for their second overall pick, fourth (No. 104) and sixth (200).

update: Jaguar actually chose the two-way standout number 2. According to ESPNNFL insider Adam Shefater, Jaguar is expected to play Hunter on both sides of football.
Jaguar is expected to play the first draft pick Travis Hunter in offense and defense. They board him with playing him in a more natural position in defense, making him take a large amount of wide receiver positions. Two positions, Pick No. 2.

Such a rumbling of movement surfaced late Thursday afternoon, with NFL network Ian Rapoport highlighting the deal the Browns had completed earlier in the day.
Soon the dots were connected:
If Jaguar goes up to 2 here, I think that’s for Travis Hunter. And if the Browns return to 5, they will remain in front of the Raiders and Jets to meet their OT needs. Cleveland didn’t have a five before his contract with Houston, so it could be allocated to become a giveback in trade. https://t.co/a6qz6wvlkt

A few hours later, from Mary Kay Cabot cleveland.com I came up with this report:
#browns No, Source said. It is thought that there is something to cook in 2. The team is calling. They’re listening. Strap in.

Now there’s a trade.
We’re waiting to see that the Jaguars are actually drafting Hunter, but it seems that Jacksonville’s new GM is not in vain at any time.
Keep an eye on Michigan defense tackle Mason Graham for whom Cleveland is watching when he’s 24 hours a day at No. 5.
There will also be a pair of first round selections to address the quarterback position in next year’s draft.
