Trump’s ‘STOP’ message for Russia’s Putin echoes Biden’s ‘don’t’ from 2022

A message to President Donald Trump’s “Stop!” on Russian President Vladimir Putin Ukraine’s airstrikes repeat comments made by former President Joe Biden in 2022, where he repeatedly warns Putin against the use of chemical or nuclear weapons in the conflict.

“I’m not satisfied with the Russian strike in Kiev. It’s not necessary, it’s very bad timing. Vladimir, stop it! 5,000 soldiers are dying every week. Let’s achieve a peace agreement.”

Three years ago, in an interview with CBS News, Biden said, “As Ukraine succeeds on the battlefield, Vladimir Putin is becoming embarrassed and shoved into the corner.

“Don’t do it, don’t do it,” Biden replied. “It would change the face of war, no different since World War II.”

The attack on Ukraine on Thursday killed at least 10 people and injured at least 90 people, including children, Ukraine said.

Trump administration officials claimed they had received productive consultations with Putin, but have yet to secure a deal to end the war that has been raging since Russia’s February 2022 invasion.

Several members of the administration recently suggested that the US could end efforts to secure a peace agreement if Ukraine and Russia do not start making major moves to end the war.

White House envoy Steve Witkov will be in Moscow to meet with Putin on Friday.
