Tariffs Are Costing City, I Want to Raise Taxes

In an interview with WVON on Thursday, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson said “changes in market and Trump’s tariffs” have caused great losses to the city “due to uncertainty and disruption.” He also said he wanted to raise taxes by imposing a financial transaction tax, expressing openness to corporate head taxes, and, along with many other ideas, “puts a burden on those Donald Trump is trying to protect.”
