Funeral Mass is being held in Rome for Pope Francis, with hundreds of thousands of mourners gathering with church leaders and senior global politicians.
Dozens of world leaders submitted to St. Peters Square on Saturday morning for Pope Francis’s strict requiem mass. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania were one of the last people to be shown in their seats before the St. Peter Basilica.

The royal family representing the 15 federal territories with King Charles III, including not only England, but also Canada, Australia, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand, was embodied by William of the Prince of Wales. On behalf of the king, like other leaders, the prince was commanded by the cas and bowed his head with respect. The UK itself was represented by Prime Minister Kiel’s Prime Minister starmer. He arrived early and spoke to other political leaders on the church stairs.

From Argentina, Francis’ native, there was President Javier Millée. He had a rocky relationship with the former Pope, but his passion welcomed “an insatiable struggle to protect him from command.” Many European states were represented, including the King of Spain, President France Emmanuel Macron, and President Germany Steinmeier.
Voldy Mie Zelensky of Ukraine also flew to Rome for his funeral, and applause erupted as he appeared in the square, as reported by BBC journalists.
When the ceremony began after 10:00am (0400 ET) on Saturday morning, Pope’s trees and zinc cas took place on the stairs after several days of open face viewing for the public who crowded St. Peters this week. The poem of the poem sal was chanted and sung in front of a crowd of hundreds of cardinals and bishops and a larger crowd estimated to be hundreds of thousands.
After Mass, ffin is taken to Major St. Marie’s Pope Cathedral, where he is buried.
