NY Attorney General Letitia James intends to take legal action against Trump’s Health and Human Services over reductions in healthcare funding.

New York Attorney General Letitia James announced on Saturday that she intends to collaborate with other Democratic attorneys general nationwide to appeal to the Trump administration’s Department of Health and Human Services regarding potential cuts to health funding.

James emphasized at the National Action Network Rally in Harlem that the threats from the White House pose multiple risks to the community. “We want everyone to understand that we plan to file a lawsuit in the coming days,” she stated during her speech.

She highlighted anticipated reductions in federal support for programs such as Head Start, which aids low-income children under five, as well as resources related to the World Trade Center healthcare program following 9/11.

“All of these funds and more!” James remarked while addressing concerns over the allegations of mortgage fraud from the Trump administration.

“We have to stand firm, which is why my fellow Democratic Attorneys General will join me in this lawsuit soon,” she added.

While she didn’t delve into specifics about the lawsuit, James has been the target of President Trump’s ire, especially after pursuing a civil fraud trial against him and his organization, which resulted in a $454 million judgment.

During her speech, she also made a controversial remark regarding Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., describing him as “a man with a bug in his head,” referencing a past deposition where he purportedly claimed to have worms affecting his brain.

Last month, the Federal Housing Agency referred James to U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, alleging she had forged banking documents to secure favorable loan terms in real estate deals in New York and Virginia.

At the rally, James also expressed her backing for NYC Council Speaker Adrian Adams in his bid for the mayor’s office. “You decided to keep fighting me, and I’ll keep fighting too, but I need my sister by my side,” James told the audience while looking at Adams.

There was no immediate response from the White House or HHS.
