Father makes an amazing catch while daughter blocks his view at Yankees game

Attending an MLB game can be challenging for fans, especially when it comes to catching a foul ball.

During the recent game between the New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays, the Yes Network aired a moment where a dad, while trying to catch a foul ball, was amusingly assisted by his daughter. It’s worth noting, though, she actually covered his eyes, as if to help him focus.

In an unexpected twist, the dad managed to snag the ball and pressed it against his chest while still shielding his view. “That’s my dad’s strength,” joked Jeff Nelson, a former Yankee and current YES network broadcaster, as he replayed the catch.

The father-daughter duo celebrated the catch with joy, handing the ball over to his little girl. While that was a highlight for Yankees fans, the team unfortunately lost the game 3-2, even with Aaron Judge hitting a home run, continuing his impressive start to the 2025 season.

The Rays went on to win the series, defeating the Yankees 7-5 under rainy conditions on Sunday.

Moments like these are quite memorable, reminding us of the countless times dads have successfully caught foul balls or home runs, sometimes while juggling their kids. This particular dad had his daughter perched on his shoulder, which added to the charm of the moment.
