Donald Trump has declared that tariffs will be imposed on films made internationally.
“Other nations offer various incentives to draw filmmakers and studios away from the United States. Hollywood, and significant parts of our country, are suffering. This is a coordinated effort by foreign nations and poses a threat to our national security,” he stated.
He continued, “I’ve authorized the Department of Commerce and the U.S. Trade Representative to start the process of implementing a 100% tariff on all films entering our country that are produced abroad.”
The American film sector is going through severe challenges. Other countries provide incentives that pull filmmakers and studios from the U.S., leading to devastation in Hollywood and elsewhere. This coordinated move is a national security threat and is about messaging and propaganda! Hence, I’ve allowed the Department of Commerce and U.S. trade representatives to initiate a 100% tariff on all films produced overseas entering our country. We want films made in America again!
In a conversation with reporters after the announcement, Trump remarked, “Hollywood is being ruined. There’s an incompetent governor allowing this to happen… Other nations have taken our film industry.”
“Hollywood is being destroyed. There are terrible, incompetent governors who have allowed it to happen… Other countries are stealing our film industry… We should have tariffs on films that come in… It’s like a threat to our country,” said President Trump regarding the film tariffs.

Later, Trump reiterated to the press: “Other countries have taken our filmmaking capabilities. I’ve been researching this diligently last week and financially supporting initiatives which, in a sense, are a threat to us.”
“It’s overwhelmingly popular. Filmmakers appreciate it.”
