Obama Foundation touts progress on library after Trump mockery

The Obama Foundation celebrated advancements in constructing presidential libraries after President Trump made light of their progress on Tuesday, suggesting he’s ahead in real estate development.

“We can’t wait to welcome everyone to the Obama Presidential Center next spring! Alongside a world-class museum, the 19.3-acre site will feature a gymnasium, a garden with fruit and plants, a branch of the Chicago Public Library, and a playground,” the Foundation noted in a social media post.

In another post, they expressed gratitude to all the workers involved in the project. This comes after Trump criticized the timeline for the library’s development during a press conference.

“I’m looking at President Obama, and if he needs help, I’m ready to offer it because I have time and budgets—he’s building his presidential library in Chicago. That’s a disaster,” Trump remarked alongside Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

“He mentioned something about wanting diversity, equity, and inclusion. He just wants everything to be affordable. Yet, they’re facing significant cost overruns, which has stalled the project. It really is a disaster,” he added.

In response, the Obama Foundation highlighted visitors’ positive reactions, stating, “Everyone who sees the Obama Presidential Center is amazed by its beauty, scale, and its role as a beacon for Chicago’s economy and a source of hope for the world,” according to a spokesperson’s statement.
