A former WWE wrestler has been charged in Tennessee for allegedly trying to buy child pornography in 2024. Michael Dorosé, known as “The Dumpstar” during his wrestling career from 1994 to 1996, faces a charge relating to the attempted sexual exploitation of minors.
Chris Stanford, State Attorney General for Tennessee’s 31st Judicial District, announced the details in a press release on Monday. The situation escalated due to Dorosé’s intention to acquire sexual assault material involving children. Stanford noted, “Buying such material is an aggravated crime because it financially supports the companies that produce and distribute this harmful content globally.”
According to the release, on April 21, 2024, Dorosé attempted to make the purchase using a Coinbase account on the dark web, but the transaction was flagged and did not go through. In March, the FBI notified local authorities about the incident.
With assistance from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Sheriff’s Office handled the case. Dorosé later turned himself in after being charged by a local judge and was booked at the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, later released on a $10,000 bond.
The release mentioned Dorosé’s prior involvement with an Adult Recovery Courts program in the 31st Judicial District, where he served as a DUI coordinator. However, he no longer worked with children during program hours and was eventually dismissed from his position.
Previously, in a 2009 interview, Dorosé shared that he relocated to Tennessee after his wrestling days and became a special education teacher. However, he lost that job in 2013 due to selling oxycodone to an undercover agent.
Dorosé is set to appear for an arrest hearing in Warren County Circuit Court on May 28. If convicted, he could face a prison sentence ranging from 2 to 4 years.
