PM Narendra Modi Will Change Plans for Europe Trip Due to Rising Tensions with Pakistan

New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to postpone his visit to Europe amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, which were triggered by a series of terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir. These attacks, attributed to Pakistan-linked terrorists, have intensified the strain between the two nations. In response, India executed a precision missile strike on a terrorist camp located in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Modi had planned to visit Croatia, Norway, and the Netherlands next week. Originally, his itinerary included starting this visit on May 13, with a notable attendance at the Indian Nationality Summit in Oslo on May 15 and 16.

All three countries have been informed about the changes to the Prime Minister’s plans, with ongoing assessments regarding the current situation with Pakistan.

During the recent terrorist incident in Pahargam, while Modi was in Saudi Arabia, he swiftly returned to New Delhi for a high-level meeting to discuss the developments. Upon determining the incidents’ cross-border terrorist connections, Modi’s Cabinet opted for a range of diplomatic and military measures against Islamabad.

Additionally, Modi has canceled a visit to Moscow, where he was meant to commemorate Russia’s Victory Day on May 9.

On May 8, India conducted targeted missile strikes on several high-value terrorist camps in Kashmir and Pakistan, labeling the operation as a calibrated military response aimed solely at dismantling terrorist infrastructure while avoiding broader conflict. The Indian government stated, “Our actions are focused, measured, and non-escalatory. We haven’t targeted Pakistan’s military installations, demonstrating considerable restraint in our methods.”

Operation Sindoor commenced at 1:05 AM on Wednesday and lasted 25 minutes.

“This government has maintained its commitments. Those responsible will be held accountable,” India declared in a statement.
