In May 2024, President Joe Biden invoked executive privilege to block the release of an interview with Robert Huar.
Transcripts reveal that Biden struggled with memory during the interview, exhibiting several lapses.
Reportedly by Breitbart (May 16, 2024):
President Biden asserted executive privilege on Thursday to prevent Congress from accessing audio recordings of his interview with special advisor Robert Huar.
The House Oversight Committee is set to begin proceedings against Attorney General Merrick Garland for not providing the recording.
According to a transcript acquired by Breitbart News, during the questioning, Biden, at age 81, displayed at least seven instances of memory lapses.
“I am writing to inform you that the President is claiming executive privilege over the requested audio recordings and asserting protective claims regarding the remaining materials connected to the subpoena that have yet to be disclosed,” Deputy Attorney General Carlos Uriate wrote to Jim Jordan and James Commer of the House Judiciary and Oversight Committee.
The Trump administration is said to be considering the release of the audio tape.
Politico reported:
The Trump administration is preparing to unveil the audio of the interview between former President Biden and special advisor Robert Huar, who posed questions concerning Biden’s classified documents and mental capacity, as explained by two Republicans familiar with the situation.
The specifics of the plan are still being finalized, and it remains uncertain whether Trump and his team have made a definitive choice regarding the audio’s release.
The Biden team has responded to the potential release, with two former presidential aides speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss the matter freely.
A deadline is approaching on May 20th. Various conservative groups and press outlets have filed Freedom of Information Law requests, leading to a judge instructing the Department of Justice to review Biden’s privilege claims against releasing the tape. Last May, Biden’s administration contended that making the tape public would negatively affect witnesses cooperating in major investigations.
Should the recordings be disclosed?
