China Removes Restrictions on Boeing Imports Following US Trade Discussions

According to a report on Tuesday, China has lifted its ban on domestic airlines purchasing new Boeing aircraft. This shift follows an agreement between Beijing and Washington to temporarily reduce tariffs amid a significant escalation in their trade conflict.

Last month, American aircraft manufacturers reported that Chinese airlines had halted new plane deliveries due to substantial tariffs imposed by both sides.

However, Bloomberg News disclosed on Tuesday that Chinese officials have begun informing domestic airlines they can resume orders for American-made planes, as per sources familiar with the situation.

Boeing has not yet responded to inquiries for comment.

This development comes after both nations announced on Monday that they would considerably cut their tariffs over the next 90 days and continue their negotiations.

The new US duties on various imports from China reached 145%, while China retaliated with a 125% duty on US goods.

Following talks in Geneva, the recent announcement reduced US tariffs to 30%, while China adjusted its tariffs to 10%.

US President Donald Trump referred to the outcome as a “total reset,” indicating that a meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, would occur soon.

Last month, Boeing’s CEO Kelly Autoberg mentioned plans to deliver around 50 aircraft to China in 2025.

China’s Foreign Ministry has also not yet replied to requests for comments.
