On Monday, Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) appeared on FNC’s “Hornity,” where she spoke about trade negotiations related to the Trump administration’s tariff policies.
Republicans in Tennessee believe that the US has a strategic edge due to its need for new markets.
“While we were waiting for some of these deals to finalize, there was discussion that China might begin forming various sub-trade agreements with other countries. But that clearly didn’t happen,” she mentioned.
Blackburn agreed, saying, “You’re right about that. That didn’t take place. President Trump aims to be proactive—he wants to implement tariffs, lift them when necessary, get rid of mutual tariffs, eliminate trade barriers, and ensure that trade benefits American consumers. Last year, the trade deficit with China reached $300 billion.”
She added, “Those involved, like President Trump and Secretary Becent, are on the right track because negotiations are happening. With the UK and China, and considering the discussions between Putin and Zelenkie in Turkey, President Trump is having a productive week for Americans.”
