Milwaukee Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan is facing potential prison time after being indicted for allegedly aiding illegal immigrants in evading U.S. Customs and Border Protection (ICE) officials.
The two-page indictment states that Dugan is accused of “obstructing and concealing actions from U.S. agencies.” Her defense team mentioned during a hearing on May 15 that they would be “submitting a petition.”
As reported, she could face up to six years in prison and a fine of $350,000. The first charge notes:
Judge Hannah C. Dugan is accused of willfully concealing information in Wisconsin and the Eastern District on or around April 18, 2025. This concealment was intended to prevent the arrest of an individual for whom a warrant had been issued under U.S. law, following the awareness of the warrant’s existence.
The second charge extends the allegations:
The judge further attempted to corrupt, obstruct, and mismanage the legal proceedings, specifically on or around April 18, 2025, in Wisconsin and the Eastern District. Hannah C. Dugan allegedly took actions to help the individual evade arrest, undermining the integrity of the legal process.
Dugan’s indictment follows her arrest by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
The FBI director noted that Dugan was apprehended “on suspicion of obstruction.”
Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS) Tricia McLaughlin had previously stated that Flores Lewis, the individual involved, has a long history of violent criminal activity, including charges such as strangulation, domestic abuse, and more.
Previously, it was reported that Dugan had engaged attorney Paul Clement for her defense.
