Dave Portnoy features in the Patriots schedule video

On Wednesday, the Patriots announced their 2025 schedule with the help of Dave Portnoy.

In the video, I used a catchy phrase from one of Portnoy’s popular expressions, labeling it “Emergency Press Conference – 2025 Patriots Schedule,” suggesting he revealed all 17 of the team’s games in an engaging five-minute segment.

Portnoy, known for his fervent support of Boston sports, including the Patriots, filmed this while seated courtside at the Boston Garden during Game 5 of the Knicks-Celtics match.

Standing in front of the Patriots’ six Super Bowl trophies, Portnoy kicked things off by sharing New England’s Week 1 matchup against the Raiders.

He mentioned, “Hey, remember that Josh McDaniels got fired by the Raiders? Yeah, that happened while he was trick-or-treating with his kids on Halloween,” adding an amusing edge. “It’s time to remind the league how they messed with the Patriots. We’re going to crush this team—think 42-7. That’s right, announcing ourselves as the top team in the league!”

Then, he shifted focus to a Week 7 game against the Titans, branding it as a “Vrabel Revenge Game,” referring to the current Patriots coach who was let go after the 2023 season.

“How can they be so foolish as to let this guy go?” he remarked. “Right, they just drafted Cam Ward, a rookie quarterback—who even cares? This match could be the most lopsided one of the season.”

It’s interesting that the Patriots chose to involve Portnoy in this schedule reveal, considering his past interactions with the NFL, especially with Commissioner Roger Goodell.

Portnoy has had a couple of confrontations with the NFL, notably one where he, along with three other Barstool employees, staged a protest at the league’s New York office—this involved them handcuffing themselves in demand for a meeting with Goodell over the “Deflategate” controversy.

Interestingly, this Monday marked a decade since that protest.

In 2019, Portnoy and PFT Commenter from “Pardon My Take” were expelled from Super Bowl Media Night, following the earlier handcuff incident.
